¶ Glovebox Maintenance Guide

Internal solvent trap carbon/filter have maintenance intervals more frequently than what is covered in this document. Carbon should be changed every one to two months and the filter every other carbon change. Failure to maintain solvent trap can result in damage to analyzers, blower and/or purifier materials.
¶ Maintenance Schedule
¶ Quarterly Maintenance
- Gloves & O-rings: Inspect for damage (fingertips, between fingers, cuff attachment). O-rings may crack/fail if neglected. Replace as needed.
- Antechamber O-rings: Inspect for cracks or damage. Replace as needed.
- Antechamber Doors: Inspect for damage. The brass door bushing can become dislocated if opened under vacuum.
- Piping: Check all pipe clamps/connections for security.
- Leak Test: Perform system leak test according to manual instructions.
- Blower Temperature: Check temperature-indicating sticker to verify blower hasn't run at abnormally high temperatures.
- Antechamber Leak Test: Perform leak test on antechambers.
- Activated Carbon: Evaluate and change if necessary.
¶ Annual Maintenance
- Gloves & O-rings: Replace gloves and glove O-rings. With glove removed, inspect gloveport for debris/damage.
- Antechamber O-rings: Replace antechamber O-rings, coating with light vacuum grease before installation.
- HEPA Filter: Replace HEPA filter.
- General Checks: Perform all quarterly checks not covered by replacements above.
- External LMF-II Solvent Traps: Change every 3-6 months depending on use.
- Internal Solvent Traps: Change every 1-2 months depending on use.
In applications where large quantities of solvents are used, the activated carbon may need to be changed even more frequently.
- Vacuum Pump Oil: Evaluate and change if needed. Change every 3-6 months or after every regeneration.
